Season changes often mean a lot of things. First of all, we can free ourselves from some fabric layers, but as well the suspence rises high while awaiting one of spring’s best parts: festival line ups releases. While last summer was pretty disappointing in this matter, my favourite winter festival visit at Baloise Session was a hit, as always.
There is one event I look forward to every year, which makes me tick winter as almost done, let’s say almost a celebration. If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you probably know it already: I am talking about Zermatt Unplugged.
You know how I feel about the festivals I love. There’s never enough and there’s always a coming back the year after. This is how I feel about Baloise Session. This is probably still the best indoor festival I was ever part to, because of the pretty visual aspect, the spot on organisation and a golden line up.
I play tourist here in my home country Switzerland quite often, it usually lead me to some breathtaking mountain sceneries and I took refreshing dips in different lakes, but I never thought about to be more centered into my base that is Zurich. You know how it is, you know your city, it’s mostly great, you have your habits and routines, however, you are more keen to escape it and share your travelling stories from elsewhere. Well, this time is quite different I guess: a lot of you out there know Zurich for its polished banks, the old town and a huge lake, but there is a lot more, especially for those who want to live a bit into the night, exploring restaurants, bars and clubs. I got you covered.

I know this has been a strict travel and festival blog for quite some years now, so with time passing, I felt the urge to spice up the things a little. If you’re following me on my Instagram account, you’d might know that besides putting on my dirty festival boots and almost mutating into a suitcase myself, another one of my beloved hobbies is food. I could go on forever with talking about how great this can be, but I guess I’ll leave it for another occasion. My Boho Bliss section is been quite silent for a while, so I proudly decided to share some yummy things in here and maybe talk about some little health routines I do for myself as well. If this will also include some recipes and showcasing my poor chopping skills I’m not sure, time will tell, I’ll go with my guts.
During my 10+ years spent in and out of Switzerland at different festivals and music venues, I think I got a pretty decent overview, especially when it comes to Europe. I don’t know it all, I still have a ton of events on my bucket list, but I’ve certainly encountered some interesting settings along the way. There were places I visited once and festivals I go back every year, for their uniqueness in terms of line up, scenery and organization. April means we can surely start to say goodbye to the winter chills and welcome some sun on our faces, but April also means that Zermatt closes the iced up season with a bang.
The Swiss Mountains are beautiful, well known and during winter everybody who has the chance goes up high to enjoy snow and sunshine. So what’s the point of this article, you might think. Davos has a lot to offer besides its ski sites plus, if you go right before the high (and expensive) season starts, you’ll find yourself between a bunch of good happenings.
On my second night strolling around Basel, everything was buzzing a little more: the quiet of the week before was replaced by the Autumn’s Fair flashing lights and the horrendously loud remixes of pop songs turned into EDM nightmares. Sorry, had to add that. Fortunately for me, Basel embraced me for another reason: my second evening at Baloise Session. After a dance to electro swing and 80s synthie, now it was the case of long awaited Indie Sounds night, starring two completely different bands: BOY and Kaiser Chiefs.
Fall means a lot of things: change of temperature, grey days and layering of clothes. A big Yikes! for me. But fall also means that the hippie dances at festivals are replaced with indoor locations. Some of them are simple, others outstanding. Last week I was part of one of the most beautiful indoor festival settings I’ve seen so far. Baloise Session has me two times this year and let collide two different generations. But we all danced together in the end. The power of music. So kitsch but so true at the same time.
I’ve seen tons of different concert venues so far, and I honestly was thinking that nothing can impress me anymore. To celebrate the rays of sun finally blessing us here in Switzerland, I was able to be part of a live session that was just one of a kind. An acoustic session by Kelvin Jones, on a tram riding through Zurich for an whole hour.
