Switzerland may not be the tropical island surrounded by deep blue sea as I wish it was, but it has a lot to offer especially in terms of cultural events. For its tiny size compared to other European countries, it offers an extremely wide range of musical happenings all year round. Baloise Session is one of them.

Earlier this year in spring, I had the great opportunity to join one of the most important mountain festivals in Switzerland, which is Zermatt Unplugged (see post here). Just last week, this lovely acoustic singer/songwriter festival was taken from the Swiss alps down to Zurich city for the first time – lucky me, I had the chance to join it again for two days.

Joss Stone (UK): Water for our Soul – a bohemian soul session

There are artists out in this world, who could be more credited for their talent. Because they have a powerful voice, a great band on stage, a big variety of styles in one record or live sessions that bring back the smokey, dusty and raw jazz club athmosphere.

“We walked these streets like kings, our faces in the wind
And everywhere we were, we made the city sing
We sang “forever young,” we had our fingers crossed
And when the city sleeps, it dreams of us”

Rooftop Rhapsody. An ode to the Endless Summer.

As you might already had the pleasure to read about in one of my latest blogpost, I have this thing for wide views. I love taking as many shots as possible from panoramas, doesn’t really matter if I have beaches, cities or other landscapes in front of me: I adore them all! This might has to do with the fact that I was raised part of my life on a hill in South Italy, where I could overlook over all little towns from my terrace, surrounded by silence, holding an espresso and being barefoot most of the time.

Songbird Festival Opening #2: Reza Dinally / Leslie Clio – melancholia vs. catchy pop

Concert, Davos, Leslie Clio, Live, Reza Dinally, Songbird Festival, Switzerland

The second evening of the Songbird Festival had again on stage two artists that couldn’t have been more different from each other musically speaking: Reza Dinally and Leslie Clio. At the legendary Montana Hotel, that celebrates itself as “Aprés Snow Culture” venue, I was happy to find an intimate concert hall, way smaller than the previous one, including some vintage stucco on the Roof: how charming is that?

Songbird Festival Opening #1: The Drops / Willam White – young freshness vs. positive vibes

Concert, Davos, Live, Music, Songbird Festival, Switzerland, The Drops, William White

The 7th Edition of the Songbird Festival taking place in the Swiss mountains of Davos couldn’t have a better start by having on stage two acts totally different from each other: the young pop/rock quartet of Basel based band The Drops and our national Reggae Sweetheart William White.

Jungle (UK): the rise of Modern Soul

Concert, Jungle, Komplex 457, Live, Modern Soul, Music, Switzerland, Zurich

Red painted walls, smoke coming from the stage, a huge chandelier at the entrance, round tables that aren’t for table dancing anymore: that’s the location where I had the pleasure to attend the show of one of the most outstanding bands of the British Music scene. I’m talking about Jungle, modern soul collective from London, already acclaimed this summer at several Festivals around the globe.

Concert, Food, Italy, Live, Milano, Paolo Nutini, Restaurants, Sightseeing

Ciao a tutti!
I have been in Milan the last time surely 7 years ago, so I it was definetly time to go again. And, oh boy, I spent one of the best weekends of this season! Being one of Italy’s biggest cities, Milan belongs automatically to the epicentre of happening. There’s a lot of sightseeing and culture in here, but as we know, the time on a weekend can be quite limited. So if you’re planning to be in North Italy you might be glad to have some tips for a big city like Milan. So let’s start this mini survival guide: Milan in 36 hours.

Go Go Berlin (DK): Let’s pretend it’s 1969 forever.

Band, Concert, Go Go Berlin, Live, Rock

A few nights ago there was a party. A great one. One of those raw rock ‘n’ roll parties. My little rocker soul actually couldn’t be happier. I’m talking about one of the hottest Scandinavian discoveries, Danish band Go Go Berlin.
