The Aloha Issue (6): Kauai – The Garden Isle

Beaches, Hawaii, Kauai, travel, TRAVEL, USA

I couldn’t leave Hawaii without visiting Kauai. I’ve always heard from friends that it’s an amazing Island surrounded by junglish landscapes. So I decided to spent one of my last Weekends in the Aloha State by heading to this natural Beauty.

The Truth: Why Sightseeing is Crap

travel, TRAVEL

Just to make it clear from the beginning: I’m not trying to start a rant here. I just found myself thinking about my past 10 years of travelling, and evaluating what I would do again and what is changing about my travel habits. “How do you choose where to go next?” is a topic that I discuss quite often, so it was easy to do 1+1 and integrate the whole sightseeing mentality to this article. Let me switch the main question from “What place are you chosing to go next?” to “What do you REALLY want to see and experience?”. And answer it honestly.

The Aloha Issue (5): Oahu – My favourite Beaches in Paradise

Hawaii, Honolulu, travel, TRAVEL, USA

The first time I came to Hawaii was almost five years ago. And I actually had no clue of what I was doing. The most important Thing to me was getting out of Switzerland, and this for a Long period of time. My savings were supposed to last for about two months and I didn’t want just to sit on my tiny butt by doing nothing, I wanted to come back with something more. So I decided to book myself an English class, just to improve it some more, and be able to make a proper conversation.

#Foodporn: 5 Barcelona Bite Stops

Barcelona, Europe, Spain, travel, TRAVEL

Let’s face it: you say Spain, you think of tapas. Nothing wrong with that, I love them and I could stuff my face with chorizo, tortillas and seafood all day long while I’m there. After being in Barcelona quite often in the past years, I developed some love for different places to have brunch, lunch or dinner. It’s been a while since I did a #foodporn edition on this blog, so it’s time to share some tips!

A Place Beyond Belief – Visual Amsterdam

Amsterdam, Europe, Netherlands, travel, TRAVEL

How many times did I visit Amsterdam? I lost the count of how many bikes I rented, exhibitions I’ve visited, and the huge amount of streets I’ve walked through. Surely, it became one of my favourite cities, and it went so far that I might know it better than my hometown. Lovely bars pop up in my mind easier than when I would decide which place I should choose for an afterwork drink here in Zurich. Which is weird, but I like it somehow.

Camden Loves You

Camden Town, Europe, London, travel, UK

After a series of non amusing events lately, I couldn’t really imagine that my girl’s weekend out of town would join the group. It’s been a while since I’ve hit the airport, for my taste, so it lightly disappointed me to know that the so awaited gateaway turned out to a solo trip. So I basically had the choice: flush everything down the toilet, or get out of town to give myself that break anyway.

Eumundi State of Mind

Australia, travel

If I will ever be able to choose in which kind of place worldwide I want to live, then probably somewhere with a vibe like in this cute little town. What impressed me the most during my trip on the Australian eastcoast weren’t the huge cities like Sydney – but more the smaller oasis spread around the CBDs. Let yourself get wrapped in. This is Eumundi state of mind.

Verbier – Switzerland’s Postcard Moment

Allgemein, Europe, Switzerland, travel

I saw a good amount of cute mountain places in the past year, and everyone of them was characteristic in its own way. Most of the time I was told that they were going to be full of chic crowds and fur wearing ladies with a chihuahua in their bag. I didn’t really notice that, well, until I got to Verbier – and it was kind of easy to see why.

Kessler’s Kulm Davos: Welcome to the Family (Win a Weekend in the Mountains)

Davos, Switzerland, travel

Davos is always a great place to escape the city jungle. Lucky as I am, I can enjoy some fresh mountain air within a 2 hours train ride from Zurich, which is great. And everytime I leave, I tell myself that I should do it more often. Because it’s not only about winter sports: it could be wellness, simply a walk, the heavy mountain food or an almost endless night in a bar. As you might already know, this weekend was about music. And my host during these three days was, once again, the perfect fit.

The Aloha Issue (4) – Diamond Head: climb, rise and shine.

Hawaii, Honolulu, travel, USA

Early wake up calls have never been my best friends – it’s actually more the contrary. Daytime routines can get rushy, busy, exhausting, depending obviously how your individual one looks like. I learned to appreciate the night and its darkness a long time ago already: I can focus better on things while everything calms down, when the streets turn into an empty world, or when a Saturday night celebration was gone far too long and the sky turns pink while an almost creepy silent train takes me home on Sunday morning. Night brings me advice, a clear mind and the most intense creativity boosts, it’s a personal love story that will never end.
